Still not sure what Ames means when she says midwesterners are “polite”? Here’s some research to back up some of the feelings or vibes we often have about the places where we live and visit.
Regional location often relates and corresponds to choices not only about attitude but health, education, politics and money just to name a few. Based on surveys, Facebook activity, and other materials, researchers recently published a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology that shows similarities in regional attitudes and personalities actually seem to reflect common stereotypes.
